We all know job searching can be a nerve–racking experience, to say the least.
This is why I’ve started offering a Job Search Jump-Starter program and LinkedIn has come up with a few ways to help make it less stressful for you to attract your next job without worrying about your boss or co-workers finding out.
Actually, LinkedIn now has 5 unique ways to help you land your dream job while in what I like to call “stealth mode.”
1 – Signal to recruiters that you’re open to new job opportunities (a cool new option you can “turn on”)
2 – Turn off the “Notify Your Network” feature when you update your profile (find this on the right side of your profile page)
3 – Follow companies you’re interested in (although, following your employer’s competitors could raise a few flags, unless you’re in marketing or sales)
4 – Reconnect with your network* (of course, networking gets a mention!)
*According to a LinkedIn survey, 89% of job seekers networked while looking for their current job. Of those who networked with former colleagues, 53% reported those networking efforts as having effectively helped them land their job. (Well, duh.)
If you’d like to get the specifics on the 5 items listed above, check out LinkedIn’s blog post with videos here.
And if you’d prefer help with all this, and rather not go it alone, learn about my Job Search Jump-Starter program today!
The Job Search Jump-Starter program starts with a phone-based discovery session so I can learn all about your ideal job. Then, I’ll go off and do an audit of your current digital footprint as it relates to LinkedIn, a Google search, and your key social profiles.
After that, we’ll schedule one-on-one coaching sessions to a) zero in on and define your personal brand, b) polish your LinkedIn profile and boost your user skills on the platform, and then c) fine tune how you approach and leverage your network.
