When you apply for a position or gig online via a company’s or staffing firm’s website, listing your skills and/or proficiencies is often part of most online applicant tracking systems (ATS). Well, a few years ago, LinkedIn added a Skills & Expertise section to their profiles and just recently they added the option to add Proficiency Level and Years for each skill you include on your profile. (See the 2nd image below.) More than ever, it appears that LinkedIn is definitely planning on replacing the likes of OpenHire, Taleo, iCIMS, Jobvite and many other ATS platforms used either for corporate recruiting or staffing firms.
